This is a role for someone who doesn't just keep things running - but actively improves how things are done.
You'll lead a busy pensions administration team, ensuring day-to-day delivery is accurate, efficient, and aligned to service expectations, while also driving improvements, supporting colleagues, and stepping into wider managerial responsibilities when required.
You'll be close to the detail, working with complex pension administration activity, complaints, performance management, and stakeholder engagement. At the same time, you'll be expected to think ahead - identifying better ways of working, challenging established processes where needed, and helping shape a high-performing, customer-focused team.
This role suits someone who enjoys balancing technical pensions knowledge with people leadership, problem-solving, and service delivery under pressure.
What you'll be doing
* Leading, motivating and coordinating a pensions administration team to achieve SLA and performance targets.
* Taking accountability for team delivery, quality of output, and workload prioritisation.
* Acting in the absence of the Pensions Administration Manager when required.
* Reviewing and improving administrative processes to increase efficiency and service quality.
* Applying strong pensions technical knowledge to support complex work and checking activities.
* Managing complaints, escalations, and non-IDRP cases, ensuring fair and timely resolution.
* Producing management information and performance reports, including monitoring SLA and disclosure breaches.
* Building strong relationships with employers, members, and key internal and external stakeholders.
* Representing Pensions Administration on project and working groups.
* Supporting team development through coaching, performance reviews, and objective setting.
* Ensuring compliance with information security and data protection policies at all times.
What we're looking for
* Minimum of 4 years' experience in pensions administration.
* Strong technical pensions knowledge and understanding of scheme rules.
* Confident leader with the ability to motivate and support a team.
* Ability to produce practical solutions and challenge existing processes constructively.
* Adaptable, proactive, and willing to take on new and challenging situations.
